A separate ruling from another court shocked observers by changing the Haiti TPS expiration date to Monday. Rep. Carlos Gimenez from Florida made his position clear. He publicly urged protection for thousands. That support matters because health staff in Florida stand to lose jobs without a decision. On another front State Department spokespeople repeatedly stated Haiti remains unfit for mass deportations right now.
