An amateur skygazer using Google Maps stumbled upon a big rounded depression in northern Quebec. Experts at Quebec’s geological survey confirmed it is a massive meteorite impact crater dating back 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The scar on the landscape resembles other confirmed craters and signals a violent prehistoric strike. Satellite images were mapped against field data to validate the finding.
