Travellers now exclusively use the Coquihalla Highway, avoiding the closure. The fire near Hope flames northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, producing thick smoke. Smoke is heavy and clearly to see, reducing visibility. A second blaze ignited south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire covers 300 hectares. It forced officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now blocked.
